My Thoughts On Gear

  • I still own my film gear. They are all well into retirement living in a three shelf display case. The lay of the land goes something like this, my Nikon F5 sits next to her digital sister the Nikon D2H. Both cameras captured a blistering 8fps I keep these two together as a reminder of when I felt digital photography really started making some ground on catching up to film. Right above my 35mm gear rests my Mamiya RZ67 and on the top shelf is my Hasselblad 500c/m kit.

    — Film vs. Digital —
  • They both serve a purpose. I love primes the most however in some shooting situations you can’t beat a great zoom lens.

    — Primes vs. Zooms —
  • I would have to say it is a draw. In the studio I find myself switching between my Nikkor 45mm PC-E f2.8 Lens and my 105mm Micro f2.8 lens the most. When it comes to Action I cut back and forth between my Nikkor 17-35mm f2.8 and my Nikkor 300mm f2.8.

    — Wide vs. Portrait vs. Telephoto Lenses —
